Social Contract

Many governments claim some sort of social contract as the basis for their power.

The problem with this is that concept is that even if the current population have accepted the social contract, and that is doubtful, the future population has no opportunity to accept or reject it. A social contract must be contracted.

You come under a covenant with your creator when you are born. However, the existing political powers can make no such claim. A child does not sign up to a social contact with the existing system just by being born.
